Kiera is one of Australia’s most experienced electoral, political and campaign lawyers.
Representing NGOs, political parties, candidates, and advocacy organisations, Kiera has built a reputation for handling high-profile, impactful cases. She played a pivotal role in the 2019 and 2022 federal elections, as well as in 2022, 2023, and 2024 state campaigns and the 2023 referendum.
Key cases include:
the landmark Court of Disputed Returns case of Garbett v Liu, which clarified the law on misleading advertising in elections;
judicial review of a decision by the Attorney-General not to grant a pardon in AG (Cth) v Ogawa;
High Court and Court of Appeal wins relating to misleading and deceptive conduct in Wormald v Maradaca and Berry v CCL Secure;
